Patrick Kerney is at weakside linebacker rather than end, and the inside linebackers are Keith Brooking and Mark Simoneau. The Washington Times reports Washington Redskins S David Terrell remains a strong candidate to start at free safety a week after the club signed veteran Keith Lyle. For now, Terrell remains the starter for tomorrow's pre-season finale at New England. And if he continues to show improvement, he could start the season opener at San Diego over Lyle, who should play about a half tomorrow and has absorbed the playbook rapidly.

Alex Marvez reports for the Sun-Sentinel the market for Miami Dolphins free agent S Brock Marion and OT Richmond Webb continues to dwindle. At this point, the only teams that appear to have interest in Marion are Cleveland and Indianapolis, but the Colts are reportedly trying to sign free agent S Keith Lyle (Rams). The Colts are not expected to sign anyone until after the NFL Draft. Miami coach Dave Wannstedt said he told the agent for Marion that at this point the Dolphins are not in any position to do anything with Marion. That could change after the draft. Webb received some interest from Denver, but that interest may have ended with Wednesday’s signing of Jaguars OT Todd Fordham.

As a follow up to a story first reported yesterday, Len Pasquarelli of SportsLine.com reports the Indianapolis Colts seem to be showing the most interest in free agent S Keith Lyle, just released by the Rams. Lyle would be a good signing for the Colts and lining him up in the middle of the secondary with Chad Cota would provide the Colts a solid safety tandem. Pasquarelli did not report any interest from the Browns that was indicated in yesterday's story.

There continues to be speculation that S Devin Bush may also be let go. The team continues to have interest in trading DE Kevin Carter, who is the team's franchise player, and the Tennessee Titans appear to have some interest in him. In other news, by releasing S Keith Lyle yesterday the team saved $1.575 million under the salary cap.
