Thu, 08 Jul 1999 08:10:00 -0700
Jerry Magee reports in the San Diego Union Tribune that the full list of 12 players available in today's supplemental draft is, Linebacker/deep snapper Mike Schneck (Wisconsin); RB LeRoy McFadden (Michigan State), RB Rashili Brown (Jersey City College), DT Denshio Cook (Oklahoma State), OT Otis English (McNeese State), WR Connie Moore (Murray State), OC Brian Parker (Trinity Valley) , PK Mike Scott (Mt. San Antonio College), DB M.C. Walker (Abilene Christian), WR Tyree Washington (Riverside City College) and of course WR Robert Baker (ex-Auburn) and OL Rob Murphy (Ohio St.). Once again, don't look for this to be a very active draft. The rules are as follows for today's draft, teams are placed in three tiers -- those that finished under .500 last season, those that finished over .500 but did not qualify for the playoffs, and the remaining teams. Within each tier, the awarding priority is determined by lot, with the tier of teams under .500 having first priority, then the tier of teams that exceeded .500 but failed to reach the postseason. A team forfeits a year 2000 draft pick if they choose a player today in the round he is selected.
Thu, 08 Jul 1999 05:30:00 -0700
SportsLine.com reports there isn't much available in the pool for the NFL Supplemental draft. While there's a strong possibility that OL Rob Murphy will be selected, there's just as good of a possibility that nobody will. Other names to note that will be in the running are, WR Robert Baker, WR Tyree Washington and PK Mike Scott. Baker, as we've reported several times, spent time in prison, Washington comes from a Community College in California, and Scott played at Mt. San Antonio (California) College. It doesn't appear that any team will be too willing to give up a future pick for most of the twelve players that are expected to be eligible for the Supplemental Draft.

The AP reports that former Auburn WR Robert Baker has announced he'll enter the NFL's supplemental draft. He was just paroled in March after he served ten months of a fifteen-year sentence for drug trafficking. He hasn't played football in three-years.
