"I think that Dedric really in this system is, as crazy as it sounds, almost the most experienced receiver we have," said head coach Bill Belichick. "Dedric has at least run all of this stuff through the years, he hasn't been here for a few weeks but in terms of overall familiarity, understanding terminology, putting it together quick, playing different spots, he is kind of directing traffic out there on the first day of practice. It was kind of scary."

The Boston Herald reports New England Patriots newly signed free agent WR Dedric Ward already knows the team’s offensive system after having played under offensive coordinator Charlie Weis with the New York Jets. I've kept up with the offense over the past few years, just standing on the other sideline. So right now I'm definitely confident in the system. This is the best opportunity for me. My best years came in this offense. Charlie has the ability to move guys around and be versatile. Other teams will put guys in the same place every down and lull you to sleep. Charlie takes advantage of mismatches,'' said Ward.
