Mariners | Seattle sitting three starters

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 12:26:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Nori Aoki, OF Seth Smith and 1B Adam Lind are not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Tuesday, July 26. OF Franklin Gutierrez will start in left field and is batting second. 1B Dae-ho Lee will start at first base and is batting fifth. OF Nelson Cruz is starting in right field because the Mariners are not allowed to use a designated hitter in National League stadiums.

Fantasy Tip: Gutierrez and Lee are in the starting lineup because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Gutierrez is hitting .273 with seven home runs and 21 RBI against lefties this season and can be a sleeper option for owners in daily fantasy leagues. Lee has also posted solid numbers against left-handed pitchers in 2016 but has gone hitless in his last six games, which makes him a risky option. Cruz should start in all fantasy leagues.

Mariners | Seattle resting three players

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 09:14:59 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith, 1B Adam Lind and INF Shawn O'Malley are not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ Sunday, July 24. OF Nelson Cruz will start in right field, while C Chris Iannetta will serve as the designated hitter and is batting second. 1B Dae-ho Lee will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Luis Sardinas will start at shortstop and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Iannetta is hitting only .216 in limited playing time and is not a great fantasy option for most teams. Lee has gone hitless in his last 13 at-bats, and owners should be able to find better options to use in most leagues. Sardinas was recently called up and is hitting under .200 this season and should be avoided.

Mariners | Adam Lind a trade candidate

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 11:30:42 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind makes sense to be dealt at the trade deadline after Seattle just acquired 1B Dan Vogelbach Wednesday, July 20.

Fantasy Tip: Lind has some intrigue for his pop (15 home runs), but his .231/.264/.449 slash line doesn't endear him to many fantasy owners in mixed leagues, especially since he usually rests against southpaws. A trade to a better situation or hitter's park could slightly boost his value.

Mariners | Seth Smith, Adam Lind sitting out

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 18:00:48 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith and 1B Adam Lind are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Tuesday, July 19. OF Nelson Cruz will serve as the designated hitter, while OF Franklin Gutierrez will start in right field and is batting second. OF Daniel Robertson will start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gutierrez is hitting .200 in 20 at-bats this month and may not be the best option for owners in most leagues. Robertson is hitting only .188 this season and is not a strong option.

Mariners | Adam Lind delivers long bomb

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 00:37:25 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind hit a three-run homer Monday, July 18, to give the Mariners a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox. It was Lind's 14th homer of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Lind is a solid hitter in the Seattle area and is worth the roster spot in daily and overall leagues. With 14 home runs, Lind will need to continue hitting if the Mariners are to stay strong in the American League West.

Mariners | Dae-ho Lee on the bench

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 10:34:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Dae-ho Lee is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Dillon Gee Sunday, July 10. 1B Adam Lind will start at first base, while 2B Robinson Cano will serve as the designated hitter. INF Shawn O'Malley will start at second base and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: O'Malley is hitting only .211 in limited playing time this season and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues. Cano and Lind should be solid starting options for owners.

Mariners | Seth Smith, Adam Lind out

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 13:11:43 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith and 1B Adam Lind are not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals left-handed SP Danny Duffy Thursday, July 7. OF Franklin Gutierrez is in right field and is hitting second, while 1B Dae-ho Lee is at first base and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy has been very good lately, especially against lefty bats, so Smith and Lind are rested. Gutierrez and Lee have appeal against southpaws and sport decent power. However, it's a tough matchup, so both bats are more of deep sleepers in daily action.
