Toronto Blue Jays OF Moises Sierra appears to be the early favorite to platoon with 1B Adam Lind next season. Lind is expected to see a bulk of the starts against right-handed pitching, and there is a need for someone to fill the role against left-handed pitching vacated by OF Mark DeRosa (Retired). Sierra recently started taking grounders at first base. Since he is out of options, a platoon with Lind appears to be the only way he could stick with the organization. "Sierra could be that guy," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Friday, Dec. 6.

Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays 1B Adam Lind (back) is hoping to avoid a trip to the disabled list. "Right now, hopefully it's just a couple days," Lind said. "I came out of the game so it would only be a couple days instead of trying to play through it and turn it into a month. That's the reason."
"I could have come out [of games] the last few years, but I decided to try to stick it out and play and a few extra innings, and it results in a month on the DL. I didn't want to put myself through that again, so it seemed like the smart thing to do."
