Fri, 29 Mar 2013 06:34:28 -0700 Boston Red Sox 1B/OF Mike Carp has made the team for Opening Day. OF Jackie Bradley isn't confirmed yet, but he's likely to make the team as well.
Thu, 28 Mar 2013 14:17:11 -0700 Boston Red Sox OFs Ryan Sweeney, Daniel Nava, Mike Carp and Jackie Bradley are basically fighting for the last two roster spots. Sweeney can opt out of his contract if he doesn't make the roster. Manager John Farrell wouldn't indicate how good of a chance Bradley has at making the team.
Fantasy Tip: Bradley should already be owned in most AL-only and keeper leagues because of his play this spring and because he's a serious opening day roster candidate. He's worth an end-game gamble in deep mixed leagues if he makes the squad.
Mon, 11 Mar 2013 11:25:34 -0700 The Boston Red Sox would likely use C/1B Mike Napoli or OF Mike Carp as the primary designated hitter if DH David Ortiz (heels, Achilles') isn't ready for opening day.
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 05:48:25 -0800 Boston Red Sox OF/1B Mike Carp is down to 191 pounds from 225 pounds last season.
Wed, 20 Feb 2013 11:28:31 -0800 Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Mike Carp may have an advantage over 1B Lyle Overbay for a bench spot because the team can't send Carp down to the minor leagues without exposing him to waivers. General manager Ben Cherington and manager John Farrell said neither player has an advantage at this point.
Wed, 20 Feb 2013 09:07:51 -0800 Boston Red Sox OF Mike Carp and 1B Lyle Overbay are expected to compete for one bench spot during spring training.
Wed, 20 Feb 2013 07:02:28 -0800 The Boston Red Sox acquired OF/1B Mike Carp from the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named or cash.
Tue, 19 Feb 2013 11:56:01 -0800 The Milwaukee Brewers are not in the mix to trade for Seattle Mariners OF Mike Carp, who was designated for assignment last week, according to a major league source. The Brewers will first examine their internal options to play first base with 1B Mat Gamel (knee) out for the year and 1B Corey Hart (knee) to miss the start of the season. Milwaukee's internal options are INFs Taylor Green, Hunter Morris and Alex Gonzalez. If the team isn't satisfied with those options, they could look at a free agent on a minor league deal.
Mon, 18 Feb 2013 17:33:53 -0800 Seattle Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said he is in talks with a "good number" of teams for OF Mike Carp, and they're close to trading him. "I would say there's a good chance we get something done in the next 24-48 hours," Zduriencik said. The Milwaukee Brewers may be in the market after losing 1B Mat Gamel (knee) for the rest of the season.
Mon, 18 Feb 2013 15:56:06 -0800 The Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox are interested in Seattle Mariners OF Mike Carp, who was designated for assignment last week.
