Derrick Goold, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Cardinals optioned OF Brian Barton, P Matthew Scherer, P Charlie Manning and SP Mitchell Boggs to Triple-A Memphis Monday, March 16. P Adam Ottavino, P Jess Todd, P Clayton Mortensen and 3B Allen Craig were all reassigned to the minor leagues.

The St. Louis Cardinals have signed 17 players to one-year contracts, according to The Sports Network. The signed players include: Ps Mitchell Boggs, Jaime Garcia, Blake Hawksworth, Josh Kinney, Charlie Manning, Kyle McClellan, Jason Motte, Chris Perez and Matthew Scherer; IFs Brian Barden, Tyler Greene, Jarrett Hoffpauir and Brendan Ryan; and OFs Brian Barton, Joe Mather, Skip Schumaker and Nick Stavinoha. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
