Cardinals | Mark Reynolds starting vs. Rockies

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:53:20 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds is starting at first base and batting seventh against Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has historically fared well against left-handed hurlers, but this season, he is just 16-for-75 with a .709 OPS. You should likely aim higher at FantasyScore, and with Brandon Moss ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) landing with the Cards, Reynolds may be relegated to more of a bench role.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds starting at 1B

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:55:36 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds (hand) is starting at first base against Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake Tuesday, July 28, and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is hitting only .206 this month but does have four home runs and nine RBI during that span. Owners may be able to find better options to use on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds sitting

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 14:50:55 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds (hand) is not in the starting lineup again Monday, July 27. 1B Dan Johnson is starting at first base and is hitting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds has a sore left hand after being hit by a pitch over the weekend. Avoid him for now. Johnson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has just two hits in 14 at-bats for the Cardinals, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore unless you're desperate for some salary cap relief for your daily lineup.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds out of the lineup

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 11:09:58 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds is not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Matt Wisler Sunday, July 26. 1B Stephen Piscotty will start at first base and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the near future. Piscotty ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has only gone 2-for-9 since joining the Cardinals and may not be a good option until he produces more at the plate.

Cardinals | Punchouts adding up for Mark Reynolds

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 13:54:10 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds has a 37.1% strikeout rate and 36 total over his past 25 games and 97 plate appearances and a .172/.237/.425 slash line during the span.

Fantasy Tip: Matt Adams' season-ending injury forced Reynolds ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) into everyday at-bats, but Reynolds hasn't taking the opportunity and run with it. Enter Xavier Scruggs ($1,600, 3.2% of cap), and there is likely to be a platoon until either wins the majority of at-bats or the Cardinals acquire a first baseman from outside the organization. Scruggs presents the better FantasyScore upside given his cap hit.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds homers twice

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 03:33:25 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds hit two home runs Saturday, July 11, in a 6-5 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: An earlier post noted Reynolds ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) had luck against Pittsburgh starter A.J. Burnett, but one of these homers came in the 10th inning when Burnett was out of the game. Still, Reynolds is improving with the bat and should be watched in key matchup situations.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds hits A.J. Burnett well

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 13:41:27 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds is starting Saturday, July 11, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has a .385 average with three homers and four RBIs against Burnett.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has had his struggles this season, but he does hit Burnett well and that's likely why he earned a start Saturday. Take a flier on Reynolds, but you may also want to look at Jason Heyward ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) and his .412-2-4 line.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong out again

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 11:57:23 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong (head) remains out of the lineup Thursday, July 9. 3B Matt Carpenter is at second base again and 1B Mark Reynolds slides over to third base. 1B Xavier Scruggs is starting at first base and hitting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke.

Fantasy Tip: Carpenter ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is slumping and is struggling against lefties this year (.196/.265/.326). Avoid him on FantasyScore. Reynolds ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) also has struggled against southpaws (.220/.324/.441) and is a dice role as a value play. Scruggs ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a weak option as a source of cap relief.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong remains out

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 15:05:58 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong (head) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, July 8. 3B Matt Carpenter sticks at second base, while 1B Mark Reynolds shifts across the diamond to third base, and 1B Dan Johnson is starting at first base and hitting eighth against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel.

Fantasy Tip: Carpenter ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has cooled off of late at the plate, but he still isn't a bad FantasyScore option, especially against Hammel, who has been much tougher against righties this year. Reynolds ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Johnson are ones to avoid.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds snaps skid

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 17:33:47 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds snapped an 0-for-14 slide with a home run Tuesday, July 7, against the Chicago Cubs.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) now has six home runs and 29 RBI on the season. While his .225 batting average is difficult to trust, Reynolds can usually be considered for GPP tournaments on FantasyScore.
