Rockies | Nolan Arenado, Mark Reynolds out

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 14:00:45 -0700

Colorado Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 21. SS Cristhian Adames is starting at third base and is hitting eighth, while 2B Daniel Descalso is at first base and batting fifth against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz.

Fantasy Tip: Arenado and Reynolds are likely just seeing normal days off. Adames has no business being in any fantasy lineup with a .200/.304/.290 slash line in 100 at-bats. Descalso, on the other hand, is having a fine season in a utility role with a .346 average, two homers and 19 RBI. The average is likely to come down, though, and he doesn't have much power that plays in daily formats.

Rockies | Trevor Story not in lineup Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 07:55:00 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story, 1B Mark Reynolds, OF Ryan Raburn and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran Sunday, July 17. INF Daniel Descalso will play first base and bat fifth, INF Cristhian Adames will start at shortstop and bat sixth, OF Brandon Barnes will hit seventh and play left field and C Tony Walters will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Of the four replacements in Sunday's lineup, Descalso has been the most productive at the plate this season, batting .333 with two home runs and 18 RBI through 72 at-bats. Adams, Barnes and Wolters should be viewed as nothing more than inexpensive fliers in DFS.

Rockies | Four RBI for Mark Reynolds

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 21:06:02 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBI and two runs scored in an 11-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday, July 7.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is a solid option in NL-only formats, and he is worth a look in DFS formats when he is at home and facing a right-handed starter.

Rockies | Mark Reynolds, Nick Hundley resting

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 16:23:11 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 6. 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at first base and hitting sixth, while C Tony Wolters is behind the plate and batting eighth against San Francisco Giants SP Johnny Cueto.

Fantasy Tip: Both Descalso and Wolters are deep sleepers, at best, in DFS games tonight. Descalso has been hot of late and is hitting .377 (23-for-61) with two homers and 17 RBI on the year, but his offensive ceiling is limited. Wolters has an ugly .211/.297/.316 line with a long ball and 15 RBI.

Rockies | Three Colorado starters not playing

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 12:33:42 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story (finger), OF Ryan Raburn and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brandon McCarthy Sunday, July 3. 2B Daniel Descalso will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Cristhian Adames will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while OF Brandon Barnes will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso is hitting .385 with four RBI over the last seven days and could be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. Barnes is also an option for owners because he has played well over the last week. Adames can be avoided in most leagues.

Rockies | Mark Reynolds back after a day off

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 12:23:34 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds is in the lineup Sunday, June 26, against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin and will hit seventh. OF Ryan Raburn is in left and will bat sixth, while C Nick Hundley resumes his duties behind the plate after a rest day and will hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds, who drew a walk and scored a run as a pinch hitter in Saturday's victory, has hits in each of his last five starts (8-for-23) and homered three times over that stretch. However, he's a weak bet against left-handers this season (.260, no homers and six RBI in 73 at-bats). Raburn has always performed well against southpaws, but there are better options during today's full slate of games. Hundley is riding a five-game hitting streak and a serviceable option in all formats.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez, Trevor Story return

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 11:57:28 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez and SS Trevor Story are back in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Shelby Miller Saturday, June 25. In addition, INF Daniel Descalso will bat sixth and play first base, while C Tony Wolters starts behind the plate and bats eighth. 1B Mark Reynolds and C Nick Hundley are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is batting .317 with five homers and 17 RBI through 79 June at-bats, while Story is hitting .282 with four homers and 13 RBI this month. Both players should be viewed as viable fantasy options this afternoon. Wolters is hitless in his last 12 at-bats and should be avoided in all formats, while Descalso is nothing more than an inexpensive flier option.

Rockies | Mark Reynolds leaves the yard twice

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 20:51:50 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds rediscovered his power stroke on Monday, June 20, against the Miami Marlins, bashing a pair of solo home runs for his first multi-homer game since July 11, 2015, and the 23rd of his career.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is still striking out at his usual prodigious rate, suggesting his .290 average is going to keep going down, but it is getting harder and harder to knock him for that. Four of his six homers on the season have come since June 4, so now may not be a bad time for owners to pick him off waivers if they are in need of some help in power categories.

Rockies | Sluggers firing blanks against Miami

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:49:50 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is 0-for-12 in the Miami Marlins series. Also, 2B DJ LeMahieu is 1-for-11, 1B Mark Reynolds is 0-for-8 and SS Trevor Story is 1-for-9.

Fantasy Tip: The Miami Marlins pitchers have been strong against the Rockies, which makes it more likely you should bench these sluggers in future matchups. These are likely slumps that will be reversed once Colorado moves on to the next opponent.

Rockies | COL makes several lineup changes

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 08:30:44 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ryan Raburn, 1B Mark Reynolds and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Sunday, June 19. INF Daniel Descalso will bat sixth and play first base, OF Brandon Barnes will bat seventh and play left field and C Tony Wolters will start behind the plate and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso is 13-for-32 (.406) with a double, triple, home run and 11 RBI through 32 at-bats this season and is an excellent source of salary cap relief in DFS. Wolters is worth considering as an inexpensive flier behind the plate but Barnes should be avoided in all fantasy formats today.
