Tue, 17 Apr 2012 19:46:06 -0700 Updating a previous report, a Minnesota Twins official said Tuesday, April 17, that SP Scott Baker (elbow) actually underwent Tommy John surgery, rather than just having surgery to clean scar tissue on a flexor pronator. In addition, the team holds a team option of $9.25 million on Baker next year, and it is unlikely they'll pick it up after Tommy John surgery.

There doesn't appear to be enough structural damage to keep Baker out for a long time, and the doctor feels the same in his second opinion, Baker might be able to resume pitching soon.

"He didn't feel right," general manager Terry Ryan said. "When they took him out it was just because he couldn't seem to get loose. That's fine. So we're going to get him an MRI to make sure." Baker was throwing 80-84 mph before being pulled from his outing.
