Tampa Bay Rays RP Jake McGee's velocity has been down this spring, yet neither he nor manager Joe Maddon is concerned. The lack of pop is attributed to McGee holding back on his fastball and throwing more sliders. "I'm kind of breaking it in. I don't usually see how hard I'm throwing in spring training. It's more feel," McGee said. "I threw my slider or cutter a lot more than I would in the season."

The Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to terms with the following players on one-year contracts: Ps Chris Archer, Alex Cobb, Alex Colome, Frank De Los Santos, Brandon Gomes, Brandon Guyer, Josh Lueke, Jake McGee, Mike Montgomery, Jake Odorizzi, Cesar Ramos, Felipe Rivero, Enny Romero and Alexander Torres, Cs Robinson Chirinos, Chris Gimenez, Jose Lobaton and Stephen Vogt, INFs Tim Beckham and Hak-Ju Lee and OF Desmond Jennings. They have also renewed the contract of SP Jeremy Hellickson. As a result, all members of the team's 40-man roster are now under contract for the 2013 season.

The Tampa Bay Rays used five pitchers combining for 185 total pitches Friday, June 8, against the Miami Marlins in a win. SP Jeremy Hellickson allowed one earned run, five hits and a career-high seven walks while striking out three in just 4 1/3 innings. However, the Marlins were 0-for-5 against Hellickson with runners in scoring position. RP Burke Badenhop picked up the win in relief against his former team, allowing just one hit in 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. RPs Jake McGee, Joel Peralta and Fernando Rodney also chipped in with one scoreless inning apiece. "The bullpen was fantastic," Maddon said. "The star of the game: Badenhop."

The Tampa Bay Rays set their roster for the Divisional Series against the Texas Rangers. The relievers will be RPs Juan Cruz, Wade Davis, Kyle Farnsworth, Brandon Gomes, J.P. Howell, Jake McGee and Joel Peralta. The team will carry three catchers in Cs John Jaso, Jose Lobaton and Kelly Shoppach. 1B Dan Johnson, SP Jeff Niemann, RP Cesar Ramos, OF Justin Ruggiano and RP Andy Sonnanstine were left off the roster.
