Wedge said the moves were designed to take some pressure off Morales and Morse. "I've seen them both chasing more than they shouldn't be chasing," Wedge said.

This offseason he's been able to strengthen the muscles around his ankle, and he came into spring camp feeling like he did before he suffered his serious leg injury. "Obviously, you can't guess at anything," manager Eric Wedge said. "We see him getting the bulk of his at-bats at designated hitter, but we will also make sure he gets his reps at first base to have that option just in case."
