Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports the Denver Broncos waived TE Landon Trusty (knee), who suffered a knee injury that would have kept him off the field for the remainder of the season. Head coach Mike Shanahan said Trusty tore his right anterior cruciate ligament during the team's passing camp in May.

Casey Pearce, of Chargers.com, reports although he is facing long odds, San Diego Chargers TE Landon Trusty remains optimistic he'll make the 53-man roster. "I can't worry about decisions that are going to be made," Trusty said. "All I can do is take advantage of opportunities and play hard. Hopefully I did enough tonight to stick around for a while." Trusty started Thursday's, Sept. 1, preseason game and led the Chargers with seven catches. His biggest grab of the night was a 30-yard touchdown reception that tied the game at 21 in the fourth quarter.
