Philadelphia Phillies OF Hunter Pence said he has been working on being more patient during at-bats and he has been walked at least once in each of the last seven games. He had only walked six times in the previous 16 games.

Philadelphia Phillies OF Hunter Pence committed an error in the top of the ninth inning that allowed the Houston Astros to tie the game Tuesday, May 15, but then he made up for it by blasting his second home run of the game for a walkoff win in the 10th inning. It was his ninth dinger of the season. Pence went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs in the game.

Despite having a .256 batting average, .297 on-base percentage, and .778 on-base plus slugging mark, well below his career averages of .291, .341, and .826, Philadelphia Phillies coaches do not plan to tinker with OF Hunter Pence's mechanics. In essence, they leave him alone. "Hunter chases bad balls at times," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "He's different from any hitter I've ever had... We don't want to confuse him, we don't want to get him out of sync with his thinking. The way that he approaches hitting, he will always swing at balls out of the strike zone."
