Sam Farmer, of the Los Angeles Times, reports former NFL QB Cade McNown is suing two insurance companies for failure to pay his $5 million NFL disability policy. McNown, whose pro career ended in 2003, filed a lawsuit this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court against underwriters from Lloyd's of London and Peterson International, claiming they failed to make good on his policy after he suffered a career-ending shoulder injury. McNown also seeks to recover attorney fees and costs, and punitive damages.

SF49ers.com reports San Francisco 49ers head coach Dennis Erickson said former QB Cade McNown, who was released over the weekend, didn't execute the way the team would have liked him to. GM Terry Donahue also noted that McNown's accuracy was his "biggest problem" and it wasn't where it needs to be at the current level. Donahue believes McNown will work on his accuracy over the next year and come back to try again. He added that they wouldn't be opposed to bringing him back on if his accuracy improves.

Updating previous reports, Ira Miller, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports for The Sporting News that San Francisco 49ers QB Cade McNown (shoulder) struggled at minicamp, and his comeback seems to be failing. As previously reported, McNown looks to be the odd man out in the team’s QB situation.

Updating previous reports, the Sacramento Bee reports San Francisco 49ers QB Cade McNown (shoulder) might be the odd man out of the team’s quarterback race. Head coach Dennis Erickson said he wants to enter training camp with four QBs, and the team now has five on roster with Sunday’s selection of Miami (Fla.) QB Ken Dorsey.

The Sacramento Bee reports former 49ers coach and GM Bill Walsh will oversee San Francisco 49ers QB Cade McNown's comeback attempt. "I didn't ask for a résumé when they said what they wanted to do," said McNown, who began throwing again last week for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery Aug. 29. Current GM Terry Donahue said he wanted Walsh to be involved as McNown rebuilds his throwing motion.
