Red Sox | Boston optimistic about Dustin Pedroia

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 15:22:12 -0700

Boston Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo is "very optimistic" that 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) will play again this year, and the team expects him to return close to September 10 during the team's road trip.

Fantasy Tip: It's great that Pedroia ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) will be back before the end of the season, but at that point, he'll only have a few weeks left in the regular season to contribute to fantasy rosters. Don't expect much production over that small window, especially since he's been out since July 22.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia not ready to return

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 14:01:48 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) won't return before September 10. His hamstring is not ready yet.

Fantasy Tip: With a possible mid-September return, time is running out for Pedroia ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) to make an impact for your fantasy team. Dumping him in shallow mixed leagues is acceptable. Brock Holt ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should continue starting at second in the meantime, and he's not a bad value pick on FantasyScore in the right matchups.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia takes batting practice

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 12:06:31 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) took batting practice Monday, Aug. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) was expected to be withheld from baseball activities until the last month of August, so hitting Monday is positive news for his recovery. Continue to stash Pedroia in all seasonal formats, as he is expected to return in September. Still, his fantasy impact might be limited, and owners will want to keep their expectations in check.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia returning in September?

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 14:22:02 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) will not do baseball activities until the last week of August, and the team is hoping he can play at some point in September.

Fantasy Tip: It's not looking like Pedroia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) will have much fantasy value for the rest of the season, even if he returns next month. The Red Sox are out of playoff contention, too, so they have no reason to rush Pedroia back. Brock Holt should continue to start at second base. His hot stretch earlier this year has faded, but he's still multiposition eligibility is nice in deep mixed leagues.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia not ready yet

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 07:12:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) has not started baseball activities at this point.

Fantasy Tip: There does not appear to be a timetable for Pedroia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap), so owners should keep an eye on his progress. Brock Holt ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should continue to see a majority of starts at second base and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia getting better

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 19:31:39 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) continues to make progress with his left hamstring injury, and he might be able to resume baseball activities by this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) still has a while to go before he can officially return, so FantasyScore players should avoid him until he can play a game or two to knock off the rust.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia back on the DL

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 18:32:35 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring Saturday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) missed 16 games with the same injury prior to the All-Star break. Brock Holt ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should see regular playing time while Pedroia is sidelined and is worth using as a source of cap relief when the Red Sox face favorable pitching matchup.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia remains out

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:26:09 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander Friday, July 24. OF Brock Holt will start at second base and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out to see when Pedroia ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) will be able to play again. Holt ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has recorded at least one hit in 14 of his last 17 games and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia on the bench Thursday

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 13:24:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia will not be in the starting lineup Thursday, July 23. 2B Brock Holt will start at second base and bat second against Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has only faced McCullers three times in his career, achieving one hit. Holt has had a decent month at the plate, though, posting at least one hit in 11 of 14 games. He's not the best option at second base, but you could do worse than rostering Holt on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia hitless in Game 2

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 22:43:48 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) was going to sit out Game 2 of a doubleheader Monday, July 20, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He was hitless in four at-bats after going 0-for-2 with a walk in Game 1.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia ($4,800; or 9.6% of cap) was going to sit out in Game 2, but he changed his mind and played. That's positive news for FantasyScore players, but negative that he was hitless in both games.
