The Detroit Tigers placed OF Austin Jackson (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring pull Monday, May 13, and recalled OF Avisail Garcia from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. Jackson's DL stint will be retroactive to May 12.

Fantasy Tip: Don Kelly started in center field yesterday with Jackson out, but he might have just been a one-game replacement. Although he doesn't have the range he once had, Torii Hunter could slide over to center, which would allow the Tigers to place Garcia in right field. Garcia's season is off to a slow start thanks to a heel injury, but he represents the most upside out of the group that includes Kelly and Matt Tuiasosopo. Andy Dirks should continue to see consistent playing time in left. The outfield arrangement could be very fluid, though, so deep mixed leaguers speculating on increased playing time might have to be patient.

Detroit Tigers 3B Don Kelly has made the opening day roster after the team sent OF Quintin Berry to the minors. OF Andy Dirks and 3B Matt Tuiasosopo will serve as the team's left fielders.

The Seattle Mariners have optioned 3B Matt Tuiasosopo to Triple-A Tacoma, according to MLB.com's Greg Johns. OF Mike Wilson and Ps Denny Bautista, Justin M. Miller and Royce Ring were reassigned to minor league camp. The Mariners still have 35 players in spring training camp and need to cut 10 more players before the start of the regular season.

Seattle Mariners 3B Matt Tuiasosopo was recently told by the team to concentrate on first base and left field, so it appears his days as a third baseman or infield utility type appear to be over, reports Geoff Baker, of The Seattle Times.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
