Wed, 13 Aug 2003 09:36:50 -0700 Kathleen O'Brien, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells, admittedly frustrated with his current quarterback situation, could eventually turn to former Miami Dolphins backup QB Ray Lucas, who played under Parcells with the Jets. According to Lucas, Parcells told him to hang out for a possible role as a veteran backup. Lucas said Parcells didn't want to bring him to camp and then have to cut him later because it would be too emotional.

It had been rumored for several months that the team was interested in acquiring Brian Griese, Ray Lucas or Shane Matthews. "I think we're going to go with what we have here," Parcells said of his team's quarterback situation. "I'm always looking, but I haven't seen anything I really like so far. We haven't had any contract with any other quarterbacks. I've had a couple call me and tell they'd like to come here and help us. But right now, I think we're going to see what we have here."
