Oakland Athletics C Landon Powell cleared waivers Thursday, Jan. 5, and he can refuse an outright assignment as a Super 2 player, but he's unlikely to go that route. His deal with the team is worth $620,000 but is not guaranteed. Powell can still be released during spring training.

The Oakland Athletics avoided arbitration with 1B Daric Barton, IF Adam Rosales and C Landon Powell by signing them to one-year deals. Barton will make $1.1 million, Rosales will make $600,000 and Powell will make $620,000.
