Sun, 09 Jun 2013 11:34:45 -0700 New York Yankees SPs CC Sabathia, Phil Hughes and Hiroki Kuroda will pitch in a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics beginning Tuesday, June 11.
Sun, 19 May 2013 10:36:26 -0700 As a result of their rainout against the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday, May 19, the New York Yankees will skip SP Vidal Nuno in the rotation. SPs CC Sabathia, Phil Hughes and Hiroki Kuroda are scheduled to face the Baltimore Orioles in a three-game series beginning Monday, May 20.
Fri, 12 Apr 2013 12:41:07 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (back) is dealing with back spasms and won't make his start Saturday, April 13. SP Phil Hughes will be moved up to take his place. Manager Joe Girardi is hoping Pettitte can start Tuesday, April 16, or Wednesday, April 17. Fantasy Tip: Girardi has downplayed Pettitte's back issues, so this doesn't seem to be anything too serious, yet. Pettitte was expected to have minor injury concerns at his age, anyway, so this might be a blessing in disguise in order to rest him up.
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 15:51:00 -0700 New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (back) is traveling to Detroit and is scheduled to start the team's game Saturday, April 6. Fantasy Tip: Hughes is returning sooner than expected and is an option in American League-only leagues and some mixed leagues. Owners should be cautious with adding him to their starting lineup at this point because there is a chance of a setback.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 12:39:14 -0700 New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (back) will pitch for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Saturday, April 6, meaning SP David Phelps will make the start against the Detroit Tigers. Fantasy Tip: Hughes shouldn't be too far off from joining the rotation unless he suffers a setback during his rehab. Phelps is an option for deep AL-only leagues, but starting him against Detroit might not be the smartest decision.
Wed, 27 Mar 2013 13:24:03 -0700 New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (back) will open the season on the disabled list, and he's expected to miss his first turn in the rotation. SPs Ivan Nova and David Phelps are both likely to begin the season in the rotation as a result. Hughes will pitch in a minor league game Monday, April 1. Fantasy Tip: Nova and Phelps may receive a couple of starts each in April and are worth considering if you need rotation help to start the year in AL-only formats.
Fri, 22 Mar 2013 14:30:19 -0700 New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (back) felt good after giving up three runs and six hits (one home run) in three innings against minor leaguers Friday, March 22. He's still unlikely to be ready for the start of the regular season, though, and he'll need a couple more spring outings. The Yanks are holding him out of major league spring games in case they need to backdate a disabled list stint. Hughes only threw 57 pitches Friday, and he's likely to pitch again Wednesday, March 27. Fantasy Tip: Hughes will probably be ready late in April and should only be a target right now in AL-only leagues.
Fri, 22 Mar 2013 05:58:56 -0700 New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (back) will likely begin the year on the disabled list. Fantasy Tip: This isn't a big surprise. David Phelps will likely keep Hughes' spot warm. Look for Hughes to build up arm strength for a few weeks and should be ready to go in late April.
Tue, 12 Mar 2013 23:47:02 -0700 New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova and SP David Phelps are competing for the fifth spot in the starting rotation. If SP Phil Hughes starts the season unable to pitch for whatever reason then Nova and Phelps would take the bottom two spots. Otherwise, Hughes slots fourth and either Nova or Phelps would go fifth.
Mon, 11 Mar 2013 06:17:26 -0700 New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (back) threw 26 pitches in a bullpen session Monday, March 11.
