Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes (finger) reported no issues with his cracked fingernail on his right middle finger while playing catch Monday, April 20. He remains on track to face the Seattle Mariners Friday, April 24.
Fantasy Tip: Hughes ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is off to a slow start in 2015 after a career year in 2014. He is 0-3 with a 5.30 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 13 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings. The Mariners haven't exactly played very well to begin the season, either, but Hughes should be considered a low-end FantasyScore starter later this week.

Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes will start Monday, April 6, against the Detroit Tigers.
Fantasy Tip: Hughes ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) enjoyed a renaissance of sorts last year in Minnesota with a 16-10 record. His eye-popping ratio (16 walks, 186 strikeouts) makes him a fantastic pickup in leagues where that is a category. Hughes was 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA against Detroit last year and should hold his own.

Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes is slated to start the opener against the Detroit Tigers April 6, according to manager Paul Molitor. Hughes went 16-10 with a 3.52 ERA in 32 starts last year for Minnesota, and he set a major league record with an 11.63 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Hughes threw 73% of his pitches for strikes.
Fantasy Tip: It's safe to say Hughes will see some form of regression in his second season with the Twins. While Minnesota was a great landing spot for the righty, be careful not to overvalue him in 2015 after the solid season he had last year. If you prepare for a fall back to reality, Hughes can be serviceable on your fantasy roster rounding out your pitching staff.

Hughes will earn $9.2 million in each of the next two seasons, then make $13.2 million in each of the three seasons between 2017-19. Hughes can block trades to three teams each year during the deal and will earn a $200,000 bonus in any season in which he reaches 200 innings.
