Tigers | Not looking for closer

Fri, 26 Jul 2013 12:36:43 -0700

The Detroit Tigers are not searching for a closer on the trade market thanks to the success of RP Joaquin Benoit. Instead, they're looking for a pitcher to bolster their bullpen in the seventh or eighth innings. The Tigers don't have many options, though, and they're no longer looking at Philadelphia Phillies RP Jonathan Papelbon. Detroit has already been shot down on Baltimore Orioles RP Francisco Rodriguez, Miami Marlins RP Steve Cishek, Minnesota Twins RP Glen Perkins and Seattle Mariners RP Oliver Perez.

Fantasy Tip: This cements Benoit's value as Detroit's unquestioned closer, and he is in no current danger of getting booted from the ninth.

Twins | Glen Perkins drawing interest

Wed, 17 Jul 2013 11:46:28 -0700

Minnesota Twins RP Glen Perkins has been the subject of trade inquiries from the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves, according to ESPN and MLB Network Radio's Jim Bowden.

Fantasy Tip: Terry Ryan said previously that he'd have to be overwhelmed by an offer to deal the left-handed reliever, who is under contract through 2015 and has a 2016 club option. Don't expect him to go anywhere.

Twins | Willing to listen to offers for players

Sat, 13 Jul 2013 16:27:37 -0700

Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan said the team will be willing to listen to trade offers for any of their players but will have to be overwhelmed to trade some players. "If somebody overwhelms you with something, you've got to listen. There's no question. You can't just say no. If somebody wants to overwhelm me and give you some thoughts that, 'Jeez, this is something you ought to consider,'" Ryan said. "If someone wants to talk about a guy, I'm all ears." Ryan indicated he would have to be overwhelmed to trade RP Glen Perkins.

Twins | Glen Perkins likely to appear Wednesday

Wed, 15 May 2013 09:31:52 -0700

Minnesota Twins RP Glen Perkins (side) will probably pitch in his team's game at the Chicago White Sox regardless of the score, according to manager Ron Gardenhire. Perkins hasn't pitched since Friday, May 9.

Fantasy Tip: The club's closer has been experiencing soreness in his left side since the end of last week. That no longer appears to be an issue. Minnesota hasn't had much need for him in the past couple of days, but even if he weren't available then, it's a good sign that Gardy wants to run him out there today.
