Twins | Trevor Plouffe doing baseball activities

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 14:13:33 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe (ribs) has progressed to being able to throw from 60 to 90 feet, run lightly and hit off a tee.

Fantasy Tip: Plouffe has played just 58 games this season and sits with a lowly .252/.283/.399 slash line. He's nothing more than a potential stash candidate in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Additionally, the Twins have some promising young bats hitting while in his absence, so Plouffe's playing time might not be as consistent as it was in the past.

Twins | No update on Trevor Plouffe

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 14:17:40 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe (ribs) does not have a timeline to begin a rehab assignment, according to manager Paul Molitor.

Fantasy Tip: Plouffe has been limited to just 58 games this season and owns an underwhelming .252/.283/.399 slash line with just seven home runs and 27 RBI. He's not a must-stash bat outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues.

Twins | Trevor Plouffe to DL

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 08:04:49 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe (ribs) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with cracked ribs Monday, July 4. 1B Kennys Vargas was recalled from Class AAA Rochester.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas had a .235-14-53 line at Rochester and has power potential. He'll be an AL-only grab and a matchup play in DFS.

Twins | Trevor Plouffe scratched

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 11:22:40 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe (ribs) was scratched from the starting lineup Sunday, July 3, because of sore ribs.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on the situation to see if Plouffe will need to miss multiple games because of the injury. He is a solid fantasy option when he is healthy.

Twins | Joe Mauer, Byron Buxton out

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 10:19:18 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer and OF Byron Buxton are not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels Sunday, July 3. 3B Trevor Plouffe will start at first base, while OF Robbie Grossman will serve as the designated hitter. OF Eddie Rosario will start in left field and is batting eighth. OF Danny Santana will start in center field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Rosario had a .200 batting average with three home runs and nine RBI when he was with the team earlier in the season. He probably should be avoided by most owners at this point. Santana is hitting .083 with one home run over the last seven days and should not be used by owners.

Twins | Trevor Plouffe sitting out

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 08:48:48 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Chi Chi Rodriguez Saturday, July 2. SS Eduardo Nunez will serve as the designated hitter, while SS Eduardo Escobar will start at shortstop and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar has been on a cold streak recently with only one hit in his last 16 at-bats. Owners in daily fantasy leagues may want to avoid him until he produces again at the plate. Nunez continues to play well and should continue to be a starting option.

Twins | Trevor Plouffe has big stat line

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 21:20:11 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday, July 1, against the Texas Rangers to raise his average to .252.

Fantasy Tip: Plouffe has picked up the pace with two homers and seven RBIs over his past eight games. He is a must-have fantasy option in AL-only leagues and some deeper mixed formats, as well as DFS play.

Twins | Byung Ho Park sitting Wednesday

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 15:17:54 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Byung Ho Park (rest) is not in the lineup Wednesday, June 29. SS Eduardo Escobar gets a start instead at shortstop and will bat seventh opposite Chicago White Sox SP James Shields. 3B Trevor Plouffe is serving as the designated hitter, while SS Eduardo Escobar is shifting over to third base.

Fantasy Tip: Park should return to Minnesota's lineup after a day off. Escobar recently had a seven-game hitting streak throughout the middle of June, so owners might want to consider him in daily formats for his potential value against a very erratic starting pitcher.

Twins | Trevor Plouffe returns to action Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:21:36 -0700

Minnesota Twins INF Trevor Plouffe (groin) is back in the starting lineup versus New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi Sunday, June 26, batting fifth and playing first base. In addition, C Juan Centeno will start behind the plate and hit eighth, while OF Danny Santana starts in center field and bats ninth. 1B Byung-ho Park, C Kurt Suzuki and OF Byron Buxton are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: DFS players may want to wait a game or two before using Plouffe again after he missed several days due to a strained right groin. Centeno and Santana have not been swinging the bat well recently and should be viewed strictly as desperation sources of salary cap relief.

Twins | Trevor Plouffe could play Sunday

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 11:09:17 -0700

Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan said 3B Trevor Plouffe (groin) is unlikely to require a stint on the disabled list for his strained right groin. Plouffe fielded grounders prior to the game Saturday, June 25, and could return to the starting lineup versus the New York Yankees Sunday, June 26.

Fantasy Tip: If Plouffe winds up missing more games, INF Eduardo Nunez would be the most likely candidate to see action at the hot corner, with INF Eduardo Escobar getting playing time at shortstop. Plouffe is hitting .250 with five home runs and 23 RBI through 200 at-bats this year and is a low-end option at third base in AL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.
