Fri, 11 Apr 2008 11:58:39 -0700 Ethan J. Skolnick, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, reports retired QB Jay Fiedler (shoulder) said the reason he retired was because of his injured shoulder. Fiedler had a bad shoulder that required two surgeries from the initial injury he sustained in 2005. Fiedler said he tried rehabbing but he could only get his shoulder back to 80 percent, nothing beyond that.

Fiedler and his partner, Marco Macau, were seeded 32nd. Fiedler retired from the NFL in 2006 after suffering a shoulder injury.

The team released Fiedler instead of placing him on the physically unable to perform list because once a player is placed on that list, he is unable to return for six weeks. Instead of waiting that long, Fiedler will now be able to return to the team sooner if his shoulder returns to playing form.
