Mets | Neil Walker goes deep again

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 22:36:56 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker pulled into a tie for the major league lead with his ninth home run of the season Wednesday, April 27, against the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Walker has three homers over his past five games, and six in his past nine, and he continues to add to his career-high homer total for a single month. Needless to say he is a must-start fantasy option in all formats and DFS play.

Mets | Neil Walker having career month

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 22:02:50 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday, April 25, against the Cincinnati Reds. He has seven homers in 10 games, and eight in the month of April. The eight homers are his most in a single month during his career.

Fantasy Tip: The switch-hitter has hit safely in seven straight games, and 12 of the past 13. He has emerged as a must-start fantasy option in all formats.

Mets | Neil Walker has four-hit game

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 23:16:37 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker went 4-for-5 with a run scored Wednesday, April 20, against the Philadelphia Phillies to raise his batting average to .293.

Fantasy Tip: Walker has back-to-back multi-hit games, and five outings with two or more hits already this season. He also has five homers over his past six games. Needless to say, he is a must-start fantasy option in all formats, and a great DFS value as he isn't quite at the elite price level of some other middle infielder options.

Mets | Neil Walker launches pair of homers

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 23:19:21 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs Tuesday, April 19, against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Walker has already tied his career high with three home runs off of left-handed pitching, and it's the middle of April. It looks like it is going to be a special season for Walker and his fantasy owners.

Mets | Lucas Duda takes a seat

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 07:48:28 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 13, with SS Wilmer Flores playing first and hitting fifth. 2B Neil Walker moves up into Duda's cleanup spot. C Travis d'Arnaud also has the day off, and C Kevin Plawecki is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Duda is out against lefty Adam Conley, and Walker has enhanced DFS value at cleanup. Flores is an iffy DFS option, but his place in the lineup makes him a consideration for a basement play. Plawecki isn't a strong fantasy consideration.

Mets | Neil Walker avoids arbitration

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 13:21:53 -0800

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker re-signed a one-year, $10.55 million contract to avoid arbitration Friday, Jan. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Through six full seasons in the league, Walker has averaged 67 runs, 16 home runs, 70 RBI and a .273/.338/.433 slash line per year, and more of the same should be expected in his first campaign with the Mets. He is a low-risk option as your starting second baseman in mixed leagues, and he can be scooped up in the late middle rounds.

Mets | Neil Walker files for arbitration

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 11:30:49 -0800

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker has filed for salary arbitration. He is seeking a one-year deal worth $11.8 million while the team has countered with a $9.4 million offer.

Fantasy Tip: Walker is a midrange option at the keystone position who is capable of hitting 15-20 homers and driving in 60-70 RBIs per season. He should be selected in the middle rounds of all fantasy formats.

Pirates | Jon Niese headed to Pittsburgh

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 12:38:41 -0800

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired SP Jon Niese from the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, Dec. 9, in exchange for 2B Neil Walker.

Fantasy Tip: Niese was a swing man for the Mets last year as they brought in their impressive youngsters to the rotation. He figures to be much of the same for the Bucs, although he might have a better shot sticking in the rotation. He doesn't do anything particularly well for fantasy owners, so he's more of an NL-only target for depth. The departure of Walker may allow both Jung Ho Kang and Jordy Mercer to play together in the middle infield.

Mets | Neil Walker traded to Mets

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 12:33:02 -0800

The New York Mets agreed to acquire Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker in exchange for SP Jon Niese Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: The acquisition of Walker assures that Daniel Murphy won't return to Flushing. Walker has some pop and can approach 15 home runs if he stays healthy. He won't offer his fantasy owners much else and is more of a midrange second base target on draft day. The departure of Niese could spur the Mets to attempt re-signing Bartolo Colon.

Mets | Jon Niese expendable?

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 11:11:24 -0800

The New York Mets have discussed trading SP Jon Niese to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for 2B Neil Walker, according to a baseball source. Niese had a 4.13 ERA in 176 2/3 innings last season.

Fantasy Tip: Niese is a back-of-the-rotation arm that would mainly be a commodity in deeper mixed and NL-only leagues. Walker seems destined to be traded this winter and is more of a midrange fantasy second baseman with some intriguing power.
