Mon, 13 May 2013 10:35:55 -0700 The Pittsburgh Pirates activated 2B Neil Walker (hand) from the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 13, and optioned INF Jordy Mercer to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: Get Walker back into your lineups.
Sun, 12 May 2013 14:10:58 -0700 The Pittsburgh Pirates are expected to activate 2B Neil Walker (hand) from the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 12. Fantasy Tip: Walker will regain his starting second base job once he comes off the disabled list and should be added to starting lineups in mixed leagues and NL-only leagues.
Sat, 11 May 2013 09:45:41 -0700 Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker (hand) is set to play in both games of a doubleheader as part of a rehab assignment with Double-A Altoona Saturday, May 11. He will play all seven innings in the first game and receive two at-bats in the second game. Walker is also scheduled to play Sunday, May 12.
Wed, 08 May 2013 01:29:29 -0700 Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker (hand) said he plans to be in the Pirates' lineup either on Sunday, May 12, in New York or on Monday, May 13, when the club returns home to open a four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers. The second baseman had stitches removed from his right hand Tuesday, May 7. He will travel to Double-A Altoona to play in rehab games.
Fri, 03 May 2013 13:47:28 -0700 The Pittsburgh Pirates placed 2B Neil Walker (hand) on the 15-day disabled list with a right hand laceration Friday, May 3, and recalled INF Jordy Mercer from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Walker's DL stint is retroactive to April 27. Fantasy Tip: Brandon Inge and John McDonald have split time at the keystone in Walker's absence. Inge should be your target in NL-only leagues if you need middle infield help. Mercer will likely be used for infield depth for the time being. The good news if you own Walker is that his DL stint was backdated to last Saturday, so he won't spend much time on the DL if he's ready to return soon.
Wed, 01 May 2013 10:37:20 -0700 Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker (hand) will probably have a decision made by the organization on Friday, May 3, about whether he needs a DL stint. The Bucs may decide to make a roster move if he's made little progress by then. Fantasy Tip: Earlier reports indicated that Walker still hasn't been able to grip a bat. If that he can't hold one without feeling some discomfort by this theoretical deadline, a DL stint seems likely. Brandon Inge would probably continue to receive regular playing time and probably be somewhat useful in NL-only leagues, with a remote shot at the same in very deep mixed leagues.
Tue, 30 Apr 2013 19:42:11 -0700 Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker (hand) worked out on defense Tuesday, April 30, fielding grounders and throwing without restrictions. However, he still cannot grip a bat, and manager Clint Hurdle does not like the idea of simply using Walker as a defensive replacement. Walker is still hopeful of having his six stitches removed from his index knuckle this weekend.
Mon, 29 Apr 2013 01:03:03 -0700 Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker (knuckle) could return later this week after having stitches to close a gash in his right index knuckle over the weekend. He suffered the injury when St. Louis Cardinals SS Pete Kozma stepped on his hand Friday, April 26.
Sun, 31 Mar 2013 10:12:16 -0700 Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker said he has not been approached about a contract extension and doesn't plan on negotiating one during the regular season.
Mon, 18 Feb 2013 19:02:51 -0800 Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker said he did not know of any recent contract extension talks between his agent and the team.
