The Pittsburgh Pirates have had preliminary discussions with 2B Neil Walker about a contract extension. General Neal Huntington said Wednesday, Dec. 10, that he is hopeful Walker will end his career with the team.

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker's representatives have had discussions with the team about a multi-year extension for Walker, according to a source. The talks are believed to be in the preliminary stages and nothing is close at this point.

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker (back) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 20, because he is getting a day off to rest his back.

Fantasy Tip: Walker is playing through the back injury, but likely will be getting more days off to allow the back to rest. Owners will need to check the lineup each day until he is completely recovered from the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Walker hasn't played a full game since Aug. 1 due to back issues. He pinch hit over the weekend and was close to pinch hitting again today before the game ended. He won't be going on the DL, at least. Be prepared to get him back into your daily lineups this weekend.
