Cincinnati Reds SS Edgar Renteria (groin) appeared as a pinch hitter Saturday, Aug. 20, in the seventh inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He flied out to center field but manager Dusty Baker said SP Homer Bailey would have pinch-ran for him if he had reached base. Renteria could return to the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 23.
