Wed, 12 Jun 2013 09:56:31 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Joe Blanton will be skipped in the rotation this weekend. "We'll push him back a couple of days with (Thursday's) off day and see where he'll fold in," manager Mike Scioscia said. "We'll see how some guys come out of some starts and go from there." Blanton has allowed a major league-high 111 hits. Opponents have batted .332 against him. Fantasy Tip: This might be the best way for AL-only owners to salvage some value from the fifth spot in the Halos' rotation. Williams should be on the radar there again, and if he keeps pitching as well as he has, he'll be useful in deep mixed leagues, too.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 20:41:44 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jerome Williams was moved from the starting rotation to the bullpen, as manager Mike Scioscia elected to keep SPs Jered Weaver, C.J. Wilson, Jason Vargas, Tommy Hanson and Joe Blanton as his starting five pitchers. Fantasy Tip: Williams had recorded five straight quality starts, and was 3-2 with a 3.08 ERA as a starter. He will be used as a long-relief specialist, and Scioscia did not rule out a return to the rotation if the situation should arise. However, fantasy owners will want to drop him in all but the deepest of AL-only leagues and rotisserie formats, where he can still help in the ERA and WHIP categories.
Sat, 01 Jun 2013 13:04:05 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia is using a six-man rotation through the end of the team's eight-game homestand, due to the recent returns of SPs Tommy Hanson and Jered Weaver. "I think right now is a good time for it," Scioscia said. "I think it helps the whole group if you can do it periodically. It's like throwing an off day in there."
Wed, 29 May 2013 16:57:32 -0700 The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim designated RP Mark Lowe for assignment Wednesday, May 29, to make room on the roster for SP Jered Weaver.
Wed, 29 May 2013 11:47:31 -0700 The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim officially activated SP Jered Weaver (elbow) from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, May 29. Fantasy Tip: Weaver will return Wednesday to face the Los Angeles Dodgers after fracturing his non-throwing elbow early in April. Get Weaver back in your starting lineups immediately.
Sun, 26 May 2013 18:02:24 -0700 Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver (elbow) will return from the 15-day disabled list to start Wednesday, May 29, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fantasy Tip: If you like to play it safe, you will want to keep Weaver reserved until he can make it through one full outing without any setbacks. However, the Dodgers have underperformed on offense, and it could be a very favorable outing for Weaver as he works his way back.
Sun, 26 May 2013 11:12:29 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver (elbow) is expected to return to the rotation Wednesday, May 29, or Thursday, May 30.
Thu, 23 May 2013 15:07:44 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver (elbow) should return to the rotation next week if his weekend bullpen session goes well, according to manager Mike Scioscia.
Thu, 23 May 2013 15:00:07 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver (elbow) said he's ready to come back to the rotation. Fantasy Tip: A welcome piece of news to go along with his promising performance in an extended spring training game yesterday. Whenever he resurfaces, he should be re-installed into all lineups, despite his early-season woes.
Wed, 22 May 2013 14:21:03 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver (elbow) allowed one run while striking out nine and walking none in 5 2/3 innings of an extended spring game Wednesday, May 22. He threw 62 of his 75 pitches for strikes. Fantasy Tip: This is good progress for Weaver, who might not need a rehab start before returning to the Angels rotation. His first start back since fracturing his non-throwing elbow could come this weekend. Stay tuned.
