The New York Mets aren't overly impressed with the shape that SS Ruben Tejada arrived in despite attending a strength/conditioning and nutrition camp in the offseason. As a result, the Mets remain interested in signing free-agent SS Stephen Drew (Red Sox), according to two sources. They are also showing interest in trading for Seattle Mariners SS Nick Franklin. The Mets have reportedly offered one year and $9.5 million to Drew. Tejada appears a little slimmer than last year, but he isn't moving any better on the field.
Fantasy Tip: The only reason Tejada is draftable in NL-only leagues right now is because there is no competition for his job. If the Mets were to add Drew or Franklin, rest assured that Tejada would be on the outside looking in.

Unless Drew's price drops significantly, the Mets are not expected to pursue him. "At the numbers he's looking for, we don't think he's worth it compared with what we have," the source said.
