Yankees | Stephen Drew to replace Derek Jeter?

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 11:45:13 -0700

New York Yankees SS Stephen Drew is the favorite to replace SS Derek Jeter next season, in the opinion of ESPNNewYork.com's Andrew Marchand. The Yankees have liked Drew for a long time, and he could have been rusty when they acquired him last season after he missed all of spring training. A one-year deal worth $6 million or $7 million could make sense.

Fri, 01 Aug 2014 15:29:09 -0700

New York Yankees SS Stephen Drew is starting at second base and batting eighth in his debut with the team Friday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Drew is expected to see the majority of his starts come at the keystone, but he can also be shifted to shortstop or third base, if needed. He's mainly an AL-only commodity as a glove-first player.

Red Sox | Kelly Johnson acquired

Thu, 31 Jul 2014 14:28:05 -0700

The Boston Red Sox acquired 3B Kelly Johnson from the New York Yankees Thursday, July 31, in exchange for SS Stephen Drew.

Fantasy Tip: Boston's acquisition of Johnson will allow Xander Bogaerts to move back to his natural position, shortstop. That could make him more comfortable at the plate, as well. Johnson's value increases with this move, since he should have more consistent playing time, at least until the BoSox think Will Middlebrooks (finger) is ready to return.
