Wed, 15 May 2013 13:01:28 -0700 New York Yankees INF David Adams was called up from the minors Wednesday, May 15, and 3B Chris Nelson was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: Adams will serve as infield depth with Eduardo Nunez (ribs) still out. Once Nunez returns, expect Jayson Nix to shift back to third base. Adams will probably receive occasional starts, but likely shouldn't warrant attention outside of AL-only leagues.

Fantasy Tip: The Yanks could definitely use Youkilis back at the hot corner and in their lineup. Jayson Nix has shifted over to shortstop with Eduardo Nunez (ribs) out and Chris Nelson is manning third base right now. Both Nix and Nelson should be limited to use in AL-only leagues, and when Youk returns, they won't have much value left.

Fantasy Tip: The Yankees are banged up, period, but especially on the infield. Jayson Nix has been starting at shortstop with Eduardo Nunez (rib cage) and Chris Nelson has been filling in at third base. Kevin Youkilis (back) remains on the disabled list. Gonzalez will serve as infield depth, but with Nunez expected to come back soon, he might not see much time. Reserve him strictly for deep AL formats.

Nunez said he still felt "a little tight." Manager Joe Girardi said Nunez must be pain-free and do batting drills in the cage before he returns. Fantasy Tip: The Yankees are testing their infield depth with Nunez out for a few days. Jayson Nix has been filling in at shortstop and Chris Nelson has been playing the hot corner with Nunez out. Nix has become valuable in most AL leagues with both Nunez and Kevin Youkilis (back) out.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson should see a good chunk of the starts at third base, especially with Kevin Youkilis (back) on the 15-day disabled list and Alex Rodriguez (hip) out until after the All-Star break. There is plenty of opportunity for Nelson to shine, so fantasy owners in AL-only leagues, and even deeper mixed formats, will want to take advantage.
