Angels | Huston Street secures save

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 21:28:35 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street secured his eighth save of the season against the Texas Rangers Tuesday, July 19, and his first since June 14.

Fantasy Tip: Not only is Street injury-prone, but he's sporting a 4.82 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and is fanning only 5.3 hitters per nine innings. Those numbers aren't very appealing to fantasy owners, and on top of it, the Angels aren't giving Street many opportunities to close out games. Street is a low-end fantasy closer.

Angels | Joe Smith being eased in

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 14:22:54 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Joe Smith is unlikely to resume his role as the eighth-inning setup man for RP Huston Street, at least not initially after returning from the disabled list. RP Cam Bedrosian and a combination of other pitchers could serve in the eighth-inning role.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has been a pretty reliable late-inning reliever and can help stabilize ratios in deeper leagues, but his appeal isn't strong outside of the deepest of AL-leagues as a handcuff to Street. Street is a very shaky fantasy closer with a 5.28 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and only 5.3 K's per nine innings. Those speculating for saves in deeper leagues should look Bedrosian's way, as he's been very good and would profile nicely in the ninth if the Angels change course.

Angels | Huston Street struggles in Houston

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 23:06:50 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Huston Street allowed two earned runs, two hits and two walks and he did not record an out as he blew his second save of the season Tuesday, June 21, against the Houston Astros.

Fantasy Tip: Street has blown two of his past three save chances, and he might be skating on thin ice for ninth-inning duties in Anaheim. He threw just 10 of his 21 pitches for strikes, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him at least given a mental day off by manager Mike Scioscia in the near future.

Angels | Huston Street blows the save

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 22:53:10 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street allowed three earned runs, four hits and a walk while retiring just two batters in a blown save Saturday, June 11, against the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: It was Street's first blown save in seven chances this season, so there shouldn't be any concern he'll lose his job anytime soon. In fact, he had allowed just one earned run in 11 innings over his first 13 outings. He remains a must-start fantasy option until further notice.

Angels | Huston Street picks up save

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 17:14:44 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street picked up his first save since returning from the disabled list, allowing one hit and two walks in 1 1/3 innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: An injury to Joe Smith ensured that Street would immediately reclaim the closer's role, and he should run with it the rest of the way as long as he is healthy.

Angels | Huston Street activated from DL

Mon, 30 May 2016 14:42:25 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) was activated from the disabled list Monday, May 30. The team also optioned RP Mike Morin to Class AAA Salt Lake.

Fantasy Tip: Street was out to a strong start this year before landing on the shelf for over a month. He'll slide right back into the closer's role, and can also be plugged back into fantasy lineups right away as a result. Joe Smith, meanwhile, will return to set-up duty and can still be useful in leagues that score holds.

Angels | Huston Street could return Monday

Sun, 29 May 2016 12:11:25 -0700

Los Angeles Angels RP Huston Street (oblique) performed well in an extended spring outing according to a source and could be activated or pitch in a minor-league game as early as Monday, May 30.

Fantasy Tip: Street will almost certainly be thrust into the closer's role upon activation, which will also end Joe Smith's usefulness in most fantasy leagues. The Angels haven't been producing a lot of save opportunities this season, but Street should still be considered a solid second fantasy closer with a pretty firm grip on his job.

Angels | Huston Street pitches rehab game

Sat, 28 May 2016 23:20:38 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) threw 20 pitches in an extended spring game Saturday, May 28, and he may be close to coming back.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Smith has done a decent job filling in for Street, but the team relies on Street as its main bullpen threat so Street will go back to the closing job barring a setback. Keep Street stashed accordingly, but hold onto Smith as a handcuff pick for your roster if you are able to do so.
