Angels | Huston Street official sent to DL

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 14:47:19 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) was officially placed on the disabled list with a left oblique strain Thursday, April 28.

Fantasy Tip: With Street on the shelf, Joe Smith projects to handle the ninth inning for the Angels. Smith is an immediate add in all fantasy formats, and Street is a universal stash. Fernando Salas and Mike Morin would be the next closing option should Smith falter.

Angels | Huston Street headed to DL

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 05:00:20 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique. RP Joe Smith recorded the save in Street's absence Wednesday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has been a serviceable fill-in before. Pick him up in most formats and stash Street on the DL.

Angels | Huston Street records another save

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 15:08:19 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street notched his 319th career save over the Chicago White Sox Thursday, April 21, moving him into a tie for 18th place all time with Todd Jones. Street allowed a solo home run, walked two and struck out one before closing it down Thursday. It was Street's fourth save on the year.

Fantasy Tip: Street made this one interesting. He has missed time in his career with many nagging injuries, which makes him more of a second fantasy closer. But as long as he's healthy, his job security isn't in question as the Angels' ninth-inning stopper.

Angels | Huston Street is fine

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 10:44:41 -0800

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (calf) said his left calf is fine, and he was resting as a precaution. He will face hitters in a simulated game Tuesday, March 8, and will pitch in an exhibition game Thursday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: This is yet another reminder that Street is one of the more injury prone closers in baseball. He's also not missing many bats, and his control slipped further last season. However, Street is firmly in the closing role and should be considered a No. 2 fantasy closer.

Angels | Huston Street dinged up

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 09:16:50 -0800

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (calf) has had some calf tightness, but he is better now and threw in a simulated game. He must do pitching drills before pitching in a spring game.

Fantasy Tip: Street has been solid in the ninth for the Angels, but the veteran closer is a big injury risk. Because of that, he's more of a second fantasy closer.

Angels | Pitching injuries mounting for Angels

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 15:25:53 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SPs Jered Weaver (shoulder) and Matt Shoemaker (forearm) and RPs Huston Street (groin) and Joe Smith (ankle) are all nursing injuries.

Fantasy Tip: The Angels signed free-agent Mat Latos, but his role will be fluid and largely depend on the status of Weaver ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) and Shoemaker ($5,600, 11.2% of cap). Street will not pitch again during the regular season, and Smith is questionable. The closing duties are expected to be split up, too, so there isn't a lot of value chasing saves from the Los Angeles bullpen. Stay tuned for updates on Shoemaker and Weaver.

Angels | Huston Street encouraged by MRI

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 03:11:26 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (groin) said Sunday, Sept. 27, that the results of an MRI exam on his injured groin were "very positive," but he is unlikely to pitch again in the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Street can be cut loose in seasonal formats. Mike Morin picked up the save Sunday, and he is worth picking up if you are hunting for saves down the stretch of the season.

Angels | Committee approach likely for Angels

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 07:09:46 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia said he will try a committee approach in the ninth inning with RP Huston Street (groin) likely done for the season.

Fantasy Tip: Those desperate for saves could take a stab at Trevor Gott, Fernando Salas or Mike Morin, but with a committee expected and little time left in the season, keep your expectations in check.
