The Sports Network reports the San Diego Padres acquired P Bobby Basham from the Cincinnati Reds for C David Ross.

Reds.MLB.com's Todd Lorenz reports Cincinnati Reds P Bobby Basham (shoulder) underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Team medical director Dr. Timothy Kremchek performed the surgery and also removed a bone spur from Basham's right elbow. Basham, who entered 2003 ranked as the team's No. 2 overall prospect by Baseball America, is expected to be fully recovered in 9-12 months.
