The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are interested in former Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks coach Ron Turner and Virginia offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor for their offensive coordinator position. Head coach Greg Schiano appears ready to add Rutgers coaches P.J. Fleck (receivers), Bob Fraser (linebackers), Brian Angelichio (tight ends) and Jeff Hafley (defensive backs) to the coaching staff as well.

Former Rutgers wide receivers coach P.J. Fleck might be headed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to join the staff of head coach Greg Schiano. He was formerly the wide receivers coach at Rutgers on Schiano's staff. He resigned one day after becoming the offensive coordinator at his alma mater Northern Illinois.

Rick Armstrong, of the Beacon News, reports free agent WR P.J. Fleck (49ers) had a tryout with the Chicago Bears Tuesday, June 20. "I had a half-hour meeting with (offensive coordinator) Ron Turner, and then I worked out for them," Fleck said Wednesday, June 21. "I still haven't heard anything. They said they'd let us know by the end of the week." Fleck does already have an offer to join the staff of San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan.

Matthew Barrows, of the Sacramento Bee, reports recently released free agent WR P.J. Fleck (49ers) might have room to return to the team as an assistant coach, according to head coach Mike Nolan. Nolan said, "I'd be open to it. If that's something he wants to do, I think he'd be very good at it."

Fleck (back) had the wind knocked out of him and suffered back spasms after colliding with LB Jamie Winborn during a seven-on-seven drill at practice Friday morning, August 5. Fleck left the field on a stretcher and was taken by ambulance to Stanford Hospital for precautionary reasons. Fleck was able to leave the hospital on his own two feet.

Updating a previous report, according to SF49ers.com, San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan has been very impressed with the effort shown by WR P.J. Fleck thus far during offseason activities. "P.J. Fleck continues to show up; high effort, works hard," Nolan said. "He's going to be a hard guy not to make the team because he's so committed to being on the football team. I see good things there." Nolan says that if there were a game tomorrow, Fleck and WR Derrick Hamilton would be in a fight for the No. 3 wideout spot.
