Mike Berardino, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, reports free-agent LB Zach Thomas (Chiefs) said during a radio interview that he would like to help out the Dolphins in the future. "I definitely would like to be involved in the future. Maybe I'll stop in there for some of the two-a-day [practices]. I feel I can really help those guys," Thomas said.

Barry Jackson, of The Miami Herald, reports free-agent LB Zach Thomas (Chiefs) says he has played his last NFL game and would "love to" sign with the Miami Dolphins for one day so he can retire as a Dolphin. Thomas is still having symptoms from concussions, "including fuzziness when it gets cold."

Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports free-agent LB Zach Thomas' (Cowboys) wife, Maritza Thomas, was pulled over by Dallas police officer Robert Powell July 27, 2008, issued five tickets and detained for roughly five hours after she made an illegal U-turn. The charges of failure to show proof of insurance, running a red light, having an improper address and not having a registrations sticker on the windshield were later dismissed. Powell was the same officer who recently detained Houston Texans RB Ryan Moats as he and his family rushed to a hospital to see a dying loved one. Zach Thomas said, "This in no way compares to what happened to Ryan Moats and his family. But we wanted to tell our story, not knowing how many others have been affected by Officer Powell. We know the vast majority of the Dallas police force are good and professional people, but this guy just seems excessive."

Rob Phillips, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys LB Zach Thomas said Monday, Dec. 29, he fully intends to play the 2009 season and did not rule out returning to the Cowboys. Thomas said, "I hope so with the guys we've got. I'm going to weigh my options this off-season and take a look at that. I think I said a few things after the game, just emotional. We just got a whooping. I'm still enjoying the game. I'm healthy. I didn't like the way it ended, but there's still another year."

"I'm a little outside my comfort zone switching positions. But when you've got a guy like Bradie James at Mike who's All Pro and had a great year...I just feel like I gotta be fair to myself. I don't regret any of it."

He also received a $1 million signing bonus and the contract includes $1 million in incentives based on minimum playing times. Thomas' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Thomas also could have an option to sign and play in 2009.
