Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports the Green Bay Packers brought in several defensive linemen for tyrouts on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Players included DEs Charles Austin, Ronald Flemons, Aaron Hunt, and Greg White, and nose tackles Ernest Grant, John Nix, and David Nugent. The Packers have made it clear they plan to sign a replacement for DE Joe Johnson (quadriceps), but gave no indication that anyone that tried out was offered a contract.

Miami Dolphins.com reports FB Deon Dyer and DT Ernest Grant underwent surgery Wednesday. Dyer’s first surgery was to remove bone spurs and loose bodies that resulted from his right hand fracture sustained during the pre-season. The second surgery was to remove a loose body and debride Dyer’s right shoulder joint. Grant underwent surgery to remove multiple loose bodies and debride his right shoulder joint.
