The Kansas City Star reports the Kansas City Chiefs are already looking towards the draft and improving their receiving corps. The Chiefs have exposed WRs Derrick Alexander and Larry Parker, two of last year's four wideouts, to the expansion draft and it appears they're ready to move on without them. Director of college scouting Chuck Cook has spent time at the Senior Bowl getting a look at some of the top receivers; which includes Ron Johnson (Minnesota), Marquise Walker (Michigan), Kelly Campbell (Georgia Tech) and Javon Walker (Florida State). Cook will then go onto Florida to check out WR Jabar Gaffney (Florida).

The Kansas City Star reports, in addition to the previously reported WR Derrick Alexander, the Kansas City Chiefs placed WR Larry Parker, DBs Taje Allen and Bracey Walker and DT Nate Hobgood-Chittick on their expansion list. The Texans would do the Chiefs a huge favor if they claimed Alexander. Houston would assume Alexander's 2002 base salary of $3.475 million. Word is if Alexander is not selected in the expansion draft, he will probably be released. "He could be replaced by somebody better," Vermeil said. "He has a way of working that can irritate you, or not working. He's developed bad habits on the practice field."
