WRs J.R. Tolver, Sam Simmons, Marvin Minnis and Kendall Newson (Achilles) will receive significant playing time as injuries have decimated the position. ''We're going to see how those young guys react when the lights come on, and [we will] make a decision from there,'' Spielman said. "We want to see how they respond to game situations, when the pace is quicker and the stakes are higher, to make our final decision.'' That final decision includes whether to add a proven receiver in the free agent market or make a trade to solidify the position.

When asked about Minnis, Vermeil replied, "Right now (WR) Snoop Minnis is not what he was and he's not what he's going to be. He missed all this work. I think he can get back up to what he was at the end of the season soon." "Unless you suit up five receivers it would be really tough to suit up Snoop because he's not a special teams guy. But we had to have him on the 53-man roster in case of injury so we could have him activated and ready to go as one of the four."
