The New York Mets did not consider releasing OF Chris Young in order to make room on the roster for OF Eric Young Jr. Monday, June 16, according to a team official. Chris Young is out of the lineup for the second straight day Monday after he struck out four times Saturday, June 14. Young is batting only .196 with four home runs in 163 at-bats.
Fantasy Tip: Young should only be owned in NL-only leagues at this point, especially with Eric Young Jr. returning and Juan Lagares (intercostal) on the horizon.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins isn't committing to demoting OF Chris Young to a bench role, even though Young is hitting .128 (6-for-47) in his last 14 games. Young is batting .206 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 102 at-bats. OF Eric Campbell is starting in left field Thursday, May 22, but Collins called it "a shot in the dark" to try to capitalize on Campbell's hot bat.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins doesn't mind juggling four outfielders now that OF Juan Lagares is back from the disabled list, but he ultimately would like to settle on three starters. Currently, OF Eric Young Jr. profiles as the fourth outfielder between Lagares and OFs Chris Young and Curtis Granderson. Collins likes Young, but he acknowledged that he likes the spark he can provide off the bench. Young isn't in the starting lineup Thursday, May 1.
Fantasy Tip: Young isn't necessarily relegated to fourth outfield duty just yet. However, it's likely headed in that direction unless he stands out considerably over the other options in the next week or two. For now, consider him only worth owning in NL-only formats.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins faces a difficult situation when OF Juan Lagares (hamstring) returns from the 15-day disabled list this weekend. Collins must find a way to juggle Lagares, OFs Curtis Granderson, Chris Young and Eric Young in the same outfield. Collins plans to sit the group down this weekend and tell them they will all get regular playing time, but that they will also regularly sit on the bench. "I think all of them deserve to be out there at some time," Collins said Tuesday, April 29. "They all have a key part on our club, and I don't know how I'm going to rotate it just yet, but I think they all deserve an opportunity. I don't think there's one guy you can point your finger at and say, 'Hey, you're not playing'."
