The Arizona Diamondbacks are not interested in dealing OF Gerardo Parra, despite the free-agent signing of OF Jason Kubel this offseason. "I'm not really motivated to move him," general manager Kevin Towers said Wednesday, Jan. 4. "I think it's a good fit. I think Parra will still play a lot." Towers sees Parra seeing more time in center field and right field, giving OFs Chris B. Young and Justin Upton time off against tough right-handed pitchers.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Chris B. Young went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, a walk, three runs scored and three RBIs in Game 4 of the National League Division Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Young has three homers in the first four games of the series.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Chris B. Young (thumb) was diagnosed with a ligament strain in his left thumb before the All-Star break and was cleared to play through it. Hitting coach Don Baylor thinks the nagging injury has had something to do with Young's slump. "I think he's got himself into a situation where when he swings and misses, it hurts more," Baylor said. "But he stays out there. With your hands, every time you make contact, there's a jarring sensation in there that only hitters know. He's really quick with his hips and with his head, so we're going to try to fix that."
