The team may activate SS Willie Bloomquist (oblique) from the disabled list if Chavez has to land on the DL. Bloomquist has been rehabbing with Triple-A Reno. Fantasy Tip: Bloomquist's return would create more excess in the middle infield with Cliff Pennington and Didi Gregorius. It's unclear how the Snakes would let playing time shake out in that scenario, and there's a possibility that they send Gregorius back to the minors. Gregorius and Pennington are deep mixed infield depth until that situation presents itself.

He's eligible to return April 11, but there will be no timetable on his recovery time. Fantasy Tip: Didi Gregorius (elbow) is also injured and isn't ready to make the leap to the majors anyway. Cliff Pennington will be the starter to open the year. There are plenty of other attractive shortstop options than Pennington. He might be good for a few stolen bases, but his bat is nothing special at all.
