Thu, 14 Jun 2007 10:26:18 -0700 Lance Pugmire, of the Los Angeles Times, reports former NFL WR Johnnie Morton tested positive for the steroid epitestosterone prior to his mixed martial arts fight June 2. The California State Athletic Commission has suspended Morton indefinitely and are holding the money he made from the fight.
Sun, 03 Jun 2007 13:10:11 -0700 ESPN.com reports former NFL WR Johnnie Morton was knocked out 38 seconds into the first round of his debut Mixed Martial Arts match Saturday, June 2. He was then suspended by the California State Athletic Commission after refusing to supply a urine sample for drug testing. The Los Angeles Times reported that Morton was not available to comment on the fight or the suspension.

"I'm not sure what's going to happen, but I'd like to be signed before the season, said Morton. "I wouldn't want to come in during the season and play catch-up, unless it's with a team like Detroit, whose offense I already know. I had the same system in Kansas City. I know their system, and it's capable of being very explosive. I still train as though I'm going to play, and I'm in outstanding playing shape."

As previously noted, the team also released WR Johnnie Morton and DE Chris Cooper.
