Reds | Cooled off Zack Cozart gets rest

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart, who is 5-for-25 (.200) over his past six games, was held out of the starting lineup Wednesday, April 25, against the San Francisco Giants. He came on as a defensive replacement and saw one at-bat, striking out in his only appearance. SS Wilson Valdez started in his place and went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly.

Cincinnati Reds OF Drew Stubbs and SS Wilson Valdez, the top two hitters in the team's lineup, were a combined 0-for-12 with four strikeouts Friday, April 13, against the Washington Nationals. The 4-5 hitters, 3B Scott Rolen and OF Jay Bruce, were 0-for-10 with a walk.

Reds | Dusty Baker not worried about Scott Rolen

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker said he's not worried about the health of 3B Scott Rolen this year. Baker is confident Rolen will be out on the field and will play as many games as his body will allow. However, Baker plans to keep Rolen fresh this spring and won't overwork him. INFs Juan Francisco, Wilson Valdez, Chris Valaika, Todd Frazier, Willie Harris and Paul Janish are all in the mix for the last bench spots, and any one of them could wind up spelling Rolen at third. INF Miguel Cairo is another option.
