"It still felt a little cold, but it didn't hurt like it did last week," said Villanueva, who has gone through a battery of tests since waking up with a cold feeling in his hand Saturday morning. "It's just a matter of seeing how it is every day and going from there." He will throw a 25-pitch bullpen Friday, March 2, and live batting practice Sunday, March 4. Villanueva has been taking a calcium beta blocker to counteract low circulation in his forearm.

He had test results which came back OK, and he is expected to return Monday, Feb. 27. Villanueva experienced a cold sensation in his hand after a bullpen session Saturday, Feb. 25, and it might have something to do with poor circulation. "He went through a number of tests yesterday and everything turned out - as far as the results went - fine," manager John Farrell said. "He's going to be re-examined tomorrow and we'll have an update at that point."
