The Seattle Times' Jose Miguel Romero reports Seattle Mariners DH Bucky Jacobsen (knee) is leaving for Arizona the week of June 6 to start running and doing some work on the field. He has been running on elliptical machines and the treadmill to improve his strength and conditioning. Jacobsen hopes he can start playing in rehab games by the end of the month.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer's John Hickey reports Seattle Mariners 1B Bucky Jacobsen (knee) will have arthroscopic surgery May 13 on his right knee, the same knee he had surgery on in September. Jacobsen had been working out at the club's minor-league complex in Arizona, but the knee hadn't responded well.

"I feel like I had an open door to win a job here. And I can't walk through it," Jacobsen said.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer's John Hickey and David Andriesen report Seattle Mariners 1B Bucky Jacobsen (knee) will miss the rest of the season with an injured right knee. An MRI on the knee revealed a defect in the articular cartilage (the surface covering the bone). Surgery has been scheduled for next week.
