Fri, 05 Apr 2013 19:25:16 -0700 Despite the fact Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez is returning for one final season in 2013, general manager Thomas Dimitroff said the team will still look to tight end in the upcoming NFL Draft. "You don't deviate from your plan when you go into the draft after bringing a guy back. We don't know if we are going to have Tony Gonzalez past one year. Our eyes are still on many positions in this draft and there is no question - this may be selling it out a little bit - but we continue to look at the tight end (position)," Dimitroff said Friday, April 5.
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 10:21:21 -0700 Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez said 2013 will be his last season even though he signed a two-year deal. He said he is a little tempted to try to break the all-time receiving record but understands it would probably take him four years to break the record. Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is still a top tight end in the NFL even if he is in the latter stages of his career. He should definitely be a top-five tight end next season and should continue to be a consistent fantasy producer because he is a part of one of the best offenses in the league.
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 06:43:56 -0700 Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez said returning for the 2013 season was the right thing to do after talking to teammates, coaches and team personnel. "Matt Ryan, Arthur Blank, Mike Smith, Roddy White, all the guys really want me back," Gonzalez said. "I went home thinking it was over, and I talked to my family and really sat down with them and discussed the pros and cons of returning, and really, I couldn't think of too many cons ... You know what? We've got a great football team, and I look forward to seeing what we can do this year."
Fri, 15 Mar 2013 10:02:29 -0700 Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez agreed to a two-year, $14 million dollar contract with $7 million guaranteed. Gonzalez's cap number for 2013 is $5.25 million.
Thu, 14 Mar 2013 17:06:27 -0700 The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed free-agent TE Tony Gonzalez to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Tue, 12 Mar 2013 09:44:17 -0700 Free-agent TE Tony Gonzalez (Falcons) has given his agent the green light to talk to the Atlanta Falcons. He's reportedly seeking $7 million for the 2013 season in addition to a reduced training camp.
Sun, 10 Mar 2013 13:51:07 -0700 Free-agent TE Tony Gonzalez (Falcons) is expected to inform the Atlanta Falcons this week that he will re-sign with the team and will return for the 2013 season. Fantasy Tip: After this offense's explosion and his revival in 2012, Gonzalez would earn top-five, if not top-three, consideration for this position as a Falcon on draft day. He'll remain a better investment in PPRs than in non-, though; he'll often be a frustrating play, and at age 37 he may lose just a hair of burst, which may disappoint overzealous bidders.
Sun, 10 Mar 2013 10:03:12 -0700 Free-agent TE Tony Gonzalez (Falcons) could re-sign with the Atlanta Falcons if the price is right and if the team would allow him to miss most if not all of training camp. The team is cautiously optimistic about re-signing Gonzalez and neither issue is expected to be a deal breaker.
Fri, 22 Feb 2013 10:15:19 -0800 Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff sounded cautiously optimistic about the possibility of impending free-agent TE Tony Gonzalez playing next season during his press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine. Gonzalez still has not given the Falcons a definite answer about his future.
Tue, 19 Feb 2013 09:24:52 -0800 While Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan will be pursued for a contract extension this offseason, the front office's top priority is convincing TE Tony Gonzalez to stave off his expected retirement for one more season. Fantasy Tip: Barring a major injury, Gonzalez should once again be a strong fantasy football contributor if he indeed returns. Stay tuned.
