He expected to be available to start Thursday, May 17. "We're hoping it's tomorrow," manager Bruce Bochy said. "That's likely."

The others filling out the roster are INFs Ryan Theriot and Emmanuel Burriss, C Hector Sanchez and Ps Clay Hensley and Dan Otero. C Eli Whiteside was optioned to minor league camp along with INF Joaquin Arias.

Updating a previous item, the San Francisco Giants released 2B Mike Fontenot Friday, March 30, likely opening up a roster spot for SS Ryan Theriot. The team will only have to pay Fontenot around $250,000. INFs Emmanuel Burriss and Joaquin Arias are other options for second base.
