San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner expressed his confidence in QB Philip Rivers in a recent interview. "He'll just us back and give us an opportunity," Turner said. "We just need to continue to get better around him."

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 11 of 19 passes for 190 yards, two touchdowns and an interception at the Pro Bowl Sunday, Jan. 29. One of his TD strikes went to Chargers teammate TE Antonio Gates in the second quarter. Rivers also hooked up with Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall on a 29-yard strike in the second quarter.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers said the team needs to cut down on the mistakes and play a little better but are not far off from a trip to the playoffs again. "A lot of times, you look at 8-8 or 9-7 and you get too caught up in what's wrong instead of, 'Let's just play a little better and fine-tune some things,' " Rivers said. "Because the difference in an 8-8 or a 9-7 team to that 11-5, 12-4 team is not a whole lot."

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton will be slated as the AFC's third quarterback and is expected to enter sometime in the second half of the Pro Bowl. Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is scheduled to start, and San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers will be second.

San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner said Monday, Jan. 2, that he would be excited to return in 2012. "I'd be excited about being back," Turner said. "I'd be excited about this team. I don't know that unless you're living it day to day, you can appreciate what these guys have been through, what this team has been through from a physical standpoint. They're responded and I do believe this team can go do some great things. We need to get better in some areas." QB Philip Rivers, C Nick Hardwick and OG Kris Dielman are among players who are supporting Turner.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers struggled for much of the season, particularly during his team's six-game losing streak, but he said he was healthy during that span. "I was never hurt. This is probably the healthiest I've been throughout a season, consistently," Rivers said. "I had some bumps and things. I was never hurt. I made some poor throws and a couple poor decisions and dropped a snap."

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 19 of 26 passes for 310 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Week 17 against the Oakland Raiders. The Pro Bowler finished the season with 4,624 passing yards, including six 300-yard games. Rivers also ended up with 20 interceptions, but he had just three picks in his final six games.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers said Wednesday, Dec. 28, that he won't turn down the invitation to play in the Pro Bowl. "It's always an honor," Rivers said. "It's always humbling anytime you're selected. I hadn't had the year I wanted to have individually, and certainly it's a disappointing year for our team. But I think anytime your fellow competitors and coaches think enough about you to vote you in, you certainly appreciate it."
